With summer approaching fast, many Lake Hamilton students are switching focus from school grades to summer pay checks. From seniors saving up for college, to juniors saving up for a new stereo or rims for their car, to sophomores saving up for a car period, everyone is looking desperately for an enjoyable summer job. Since Hot Springs is a well-visited tourist town, summer is a prime time to get a job.
One of the most well-known summer job possibilities is Magic Springs. The popular summer amusement park is home to a variety of job opportunities including lifeguarding, ride attending, and running the cash registers for their souvenir shops. Many Lake Hamilton students are planning on applying for jobs or have already applied. Grant Williams, a sophomore, is contemplating signing up. “I want to work somewhere that’s fun and where I’ll still have time to hang out with my friends and girl friends.” The 750 workers that Magic Springs hope to hire this summer will have free access to the park and get discounts for park merchandise. Magic Springs would be a good place to earn some money and have fun with your friends.
Yet another obvious choice for a summer job would be one of the 10 Lake Ouachita Marinas: Brady Mountain , Mountain Harbor , North Shores , Buena Vista, and Ouachita State Park being the most popular. All of the marinas are located on gorgeous Lake Ouachita , where all summer you could get a tan, make some money, and still be around friends. Kelsey Williams, a junior at Lake Hamilton , plans to work there this summer with a number of other LH students.
If neither one of those sound appealing to you, you can always ask your mom, dad, or other family members if there is a spot open at their work. If your family owns a business, then that would be a good place to work where you wouldn’t even have to waste gas money to get to! It’s a win-win situation.
Getting a job isn’t a walk in the park, but it doesn’t have to be hard if you know where to look. Utilize friends, family, and the internet to find you a job that you can enjoy while making some money. The local newspapers hold many job openings at local businesses so go and get one from the library or an English class today!
