Easter EGGtravaganza!
That time of year was here once again, did you grab your baskets and go?
Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after vernal equinox. In the year 2011 it just happens to fall on April 24th. Christians believe that Jesus was raised from the dead three days after he died on the cross. As part of the Easter season, his death is commemorated on Good Friday, which is always the Friday just before Easter. On Easter Sunday, Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ; it is typically the most attended Sunday for churches.
Today, Easter is most often linked with little plastic eggs filled with delicious candies. Speaking of eggs and candy, there are many opportunities for the little ones to go Easter egg hunting all around Hot Springs every year.
One event was the Easter EGGstravaganza at Cedar Glades Park . It was held on Saturday, April 23, 2011 beginning at 2:00 pm. There were over 10,000 eggs for the children to hunt down and fill their baskets with. Along with the egg hunting there was also stories, prizes, and best of all, the Easter Bunny made a special appearance!
If you didn’t want to head out to Cedar Glades on Saturday then you were sure to find many Easter egg hunts at any of the local churches. At Hot Springs High School , Gospel Light Baptist Church hosted an Eggstraodinary Easter Egg Hunt. Over 20,000 eggs were hidden around the property, there were inflatable fun houses for the children along with games, prizes and concession stands. As if this wasn’t enough fun already, The Ball Brothers, a Southern gospel group, put on a concert.
There are many different events one could find to celebrate this holiday so, if you’re just lying on the couch next year, grab your friends and family and go find an Easter celebration and enjoy yourself!
