Lake Hamilton offers many advance placement classes for example: English, science, mathematics, foreign languages, and history. These courses are classes that challenge you to work harder. You go at a faster pace then in a regular class. In these classes you usually have more homework then in a regular course level class. This can be helpful, but it can also be harmful.

       One reason that it can be helpful is that it will look awesome on you curriculum and it will also prepare you for college level classes. Lake Hamilton High School strongly suggests that you take pre-Ap level classes to prepare you for AP courses. This school has been awarded many great awards and has been named the number one school in Arkansas. This award was won thanks to the teachers and students, mainly those who pass the AP exam. When a student passes an AP exam the school awards them 100 dollars for every class that was passed. That means especially for senior’s extra money that can be used to get ready for college. So there are many pros but to every great tale there is always something bad.

       The way that taking AP classes can harm you is that if you don’t do to well in class you will have a bad grade which in all will bring your gpa down. Besides hurting your grades taking AP classes can also hurt your want for knowledge, like for instance just on Friday 4-15-11 we had a meeting in the auditorium they named the top 25 students from each grade, some students were not pleased with the results because a lot of the top students take regular classes that are not as difficult as the AP classes are. They shouldn’t worry about that because a AP course is worth 5 point while a regular class is worth only for so you have a better chance to have a higher gpa then most.

Although there are many great things about AP classes there is also that downfall but, just think of how much those classes can help you out in the future. That’s why lake Hamilton high school strongly suggests that you take those awesome and wonderful free AP courses that on the way can also count for college credit. So many things are good, many are bad. But all in all its more of a win-win situation .
