Art Church Studios

Are you interested in your local art scene? Hot Springs has had a growing artistic community for some time now, but not a large amount of organizations open for people to express their artistic abilities. One organization open to enrich the growing artists in our community of Hot Springs and Garland County is Artchurch Studios. Artchurch Studios is a radical, non-profit organization to help local artists advance their self expression through the visual arts, inhabiting a historic 1890’s church.
Artchurch Studios  started out as an experiment to present performances, art exhibits, classes, films, and music concerts for those with artistic potential in our area by Marc and Terri Menefee. They noticed there was potential for an exceptionally significant art scene for the over-all community, but that not all of the community was aware of the artistic opportunities available. Artchurch collaborates with other artists and art facilities to enhance people’s skills and to gain acknowledgement of local artists. By forming Artchurch Studios, the community became more alert of local openings and activities they could attend to express their specific artistic talents whether it is the visual arts, dance, music, or theatre. Artchurch provides a place for artistic enrichment, and belonging.
Although there are other local galleries and art groups in our community, Artchurch wasn’t created to replace these but to support. The forming of Artchurch Studios continues to assist citizens to get motivated and involved with their art scene, and helps already promising artists advance. Artchurch holds classes or workshops for different types of arts, like journal and paper making classes for a low price, and even lower for those who are members of the Artchurch.
Artchurch has plenty of events every month to keep the local fine artists and those interested in the Hot Springs art scene totally enthused. Gallery Walk is one of the well known events Artchurch Studios presents on the first Friday of every month in Hot Springs National Park. Gallery Walk is open from 5pm-9pm and the Artchurch encourages people to come by to see what is new with the Studio and the artwork. An upcoming event the Studio sponsors is a part of the Artchurch Studios "Listening Room Performances-no cell phones please" House Concerts, where Bizzaro Buddha will be playing a semi-acoustic concert. The performance will be from 6pm-9pm May 18th on the Cathedral Gallery stage upstairs in the church and is guaranteed to be a night to remember! Artchurch Studios also holds a Friday Night Film Series one Friday every month, with a different genre for each film night. The film for the May Film Series will the Cohen Brothers iconic film "The Big Lebowski" Artchurch Studios will be providing the popcorn and will be accepting greatly appreciated $2 donations to help keep the Artchurch open.
The experiment known as Artchurch Studios has helped many artists in our area expand their beliefs in art and build on their art skills. Artchurch encourages citizens of Hot Springs to be involved with events in their community to improve their artistic talent and broaden their abilities. Artchurch works to provide our community with the friendly lifestyle that is known as art to all and to unite those who have already discovered art is their passion with those who may have artistic potential. Artchurch Studios is located at 301 Whittington Avenue in the arts district a few blocks off of Central Avenue. The people at Artchurch welcome you to stop by when their doors open from 11am-6pm Tuesday through Saturday; come by to discover the local art and artists of Hot Springs!
