Study habits

Are you having trouble studying? Is it because you don’t have enough time or get easily distracted? Some people study too much at a time which is why kids these days have a hard time studying because of stress there isn’t enough time, or they get easily distracted. Here are some tips about what you can do to study better and do well in school.

One thing you should do is make time at home to study. Don’t focus too much on one particular subject; try to space it out and take short breaks in between subjects. Taking these breaks will restore mental energy, leaving more room for you brain to absorb more information. Study time is anything you do related to school work; it could be reading, completing work from class, or working on a paper or project.

Another technique is to study at the same time every day to create a pattern. This will help with having a regular activity, just like sleeping and eating. When you have a study time scheduled, you are actually mentally preparing to study for whatever time you are studying for. Your brain will be ready and so will you to absorb the information you need, and will help you later on.

Reviewing notes is also good; it’ll make you remember stuff you might’ve forgot like maybe how to solve a particular problem, or the correct way to write paragraphs for English class. Notes even help by making sure you are doing an assignment correctly. They may help you complete and assignment faster, even the most difficult ones, which require a lot more effort. If you decide to use your notes, make sure you use them on the harder assignments so you understand them better. This is useful to do because you’ll have the most mental energy doing the harder assignment first.

The last thing to do is, turn off your cell phone, it distracts you from your work. It’s true, if a friend were to call you while you’re doing your work, you can lose track of what you were previously doing and forget it. If they start talking about things that you know will keep you distracted. Stop them and tell them to wait till you’re done with your work, and you’ll call them back when your done, unless they have the same question or problem you are doing, then ask them for their input on it, which in a manner of speaking means, ‘two heads are better than one.’

These tips and suggestions matter because students are having a lot more trouble studying due to iPods’ and cell phones. What students should do is, make more time for school work and create patterns for study time and take little breaks. Review is another thing, along with turning off cell phones or music so you have a calm quiet environment to study in.
